Mozambique Health

Mozambique – Hygiene and Sanitation

AMURT commenced several hygiene and sanitation program in 2001, with grants from UNICEF and the Swiss Development Corporation, building 1,400 pit latrines in three resettlement areas. Our surveys had shown that many people were unaware of the causes of diarrhea, so we also organized educational theater programs in all the beneficiary communities. Read more

Uganda School

Uganda – School

The AMURT-sponsored school is in Wasswa village about 60 miles from Kampala. It was started in 1988. It was a simple project in the beginning, with twenty village children being taught under a tree! The first building was constructed in 1991, and now the school has 333 children from Nursery to Primary 7. Twenty-one children are boarders and eight children are orphans in our care. Read more

Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team, AMURT started its relief activities immediately after the Cyclone Nargis in May 2008. Indonesia Earthquake Relief

Indonesia – Yogyakarta Earthquake Response 2006-2007

AMURT entered Yogyakarta soon after the devastating earthquake that hit the area on May 27, 2006 and left over 400,000 homeless. In the initial relief phase, AMURT distributed Emergency Relief Supplies to 2083 families in 20 sub-villages in Yogyakarta Province. Read more

Indonesia Tsunami Relief

Indonesia – Aceh Tsunami Relief 2005-2007

In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, AMURT and AMURTEL focused on providing emergency supplies to the survivors. We distributed more than US$300,000 worth of food and non-food, medical and recreational items in the first three months to thousands of tsunami survivors in different parts of Aceh. Read more
